From Stay-at-Home Mom to Social Media Manager: My Journey Back to Work After 17 Years

I loved staying home with my kids. When I finally went back to work, the profound relief my husband felt was the biggest surprise to me. He was so happy to not have all the pressure solely on his shoulders. For years, he managed our family’s financial responsibilities with grace and without complaint, and it wasn’t until I stepped back into the professional world that I truly understood the weight he had been carrying.

The Roles We Play

In our family, we had traditional roles. I was dedicated to taking care of the kids and managing our home, and I was really good at it. My husband’s years of silently bearing the pressure eventually took their toll, though I was too busy with the kids and daily life to fully notice.

A Major Life Shift

We don’t get to our 40s or 50s without experiencing some major life shifts. Going back to work has been the biggest and most rewarding surprise I didn’t know I needed. The landscape of work has dramatically changed, allowing us to pursue service-based businesses from home. What a world we live in now!

Finding My Passion: Social Media Management

Returning to the workforce, I discovered a passion for social media. I immersed myself in learning about different platforms, content creation, and online marketing. The digital world had evolved significantly, and I was eager to dive in and help others navigate this new landscape.

Building My Business and Helping Others

Starting my own social media management business was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. I focused on serving women over 40, understanding their unique perspectives and needs. Over the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of women learn new skills and build their confidence in the online space.

Teaching Reels Classes for Women Over 40

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is teaching reels classes. Many women over 40 find the fast-paced world of social media intimidating. My course, Reels For Beginners, is designed for you, providing step-by-step guidance to help my clients create reels that connect with their audience. (You can be creating reels in less than 30 Minutes!)

She squeezed me tight and, through tears, said, “I can’t believe you’re leaving me.” I started to laugh, “Technically, you left me. And that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be.” Dropping my second kid off at college last week was hard and good. If I can share the most...
