Hey reluctant poster. Yes, you! If you are over 40 you might be reluctant to post your vacation on your business account. I get it. You are smart and private and sharing ALL THE THINGS about your life is just not what you are about. I am here to tell you this can be easy. I don’t want you to miss an easy opportunity to connect to your audience. Ready for the tips?!
You don’t need to post your trip in real time. It is a much better practice to post about your trip once you are on your way home or already home. Take pictures and video and then put your phone down and save the posting for later!
Always give your location. Add the city or even the resort as your location. This is a great way to connect to your audience. Someone has been there or wants to go there and lets face it, we are all dreaming of vacations right now! (Remember tip #1 for your safety)
Tell a little story. Humans connect through story. If you post a picture of a barbeque and you say “Great Memorial Weekend Barbeque with Friends’ ‘it’s fine but your audience feels left out. Invite them in, “We loved spending time with Bob and Sue on Memorial Day. We were neighbors for 5 years when the kids were younger and Sue makes the best berry cobbler and Bob’s garage is so tidy we have to take a tour!” Stories are magic and it does not have to be too personal but it does need to be relatable.
Bring up your business. You can talk about who is handling things while you are away. You can talk about a few wins that you are celebrating while on vacation or you can thank your customers for being so awesome.
I love to see your vacations and I love to hear your stories. Tell me if this is easy for you or are you a reluctant vacay poster?
